Introducing:
Dr. Gregory A. Wiens

Greg currently serves as the Florida State Pastor for Florida Church of God Ministries (FLCOGM), founder and leadership strategiest of Healthy Growing Churches (HGC), and tribal instigator of The Great Commission Group (GCG). With FLCOGM, he works in a collaborative effort with a team of eight gifted staff members each leading their ministry focus of the ministry in Florida. FLOCGM is noted for their aggressive approach for building healthy churches that transform their communities through multiplying converts, disciples, leaders and churches.

Healthy Growing Churches is also committed to changing the spiritual landscape of our nation and world through a similar approach across multiple denominations and judicatories. Greg and the team have created a number of approaches to accomplishing this vision. Every church is unique and is approached from this perspective. HGC is about coaching judicatories and leaders in transforming their own organizations to be missionally focused and Kingdom oriented. The Great Commission Group is his most recent endeavor. It is an attempt to create a tribe of like minded and passionate leaders who see themselves and their organizations as keys to bringing about positive change in churches around the world.

Greg’s passion is helping leaders understand their role in turning organizations toward an outward focused mission. This passion is fueled by walking closely with God. Greg believes a leader must sense how God has wired and called him or her before he/she can lead where God wants his Body to be led. Greg has spoken at many large and small gatherings of leaders. Wherever he speaks it usually centers on being the leader you were uniquely created to be in the context of having a healthy relationship with God and those around the leader.

He also serves on the boards of several organizations, which emphasize growing and planting healthy churches around the nation and world. Over the past 20 years, he has served on the Personnel, Credentials, Evangelism, Business and Executive Committees as well as the Chairman of the Board for Kingdom Builders and Church Development in Florida. In addition Greg has served on several national committees of the Church of God that include Ministries Council, Area Administrators, Church Planting Bootcamps and the Lilly Grant -Implementation Program. He has been part of coaching or assessing over 150 church plants thus far in his ministry.

Greg founded the Hope Community Church in Florida, and was pastor of this church for almost 14 years. The church was located on eight acres in Oviedo, Florida.

In addition, from 1995 to 1999, Greg was a visiting Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Central Florida where he taught courses in educational ethics, quantitative and qualitative research, statistics, measurement and assessment. He also was an Associate Professor at Warner Southern College, teaching research and statistics, church growth and evangelism, and Bible courses. In addition, he has been a consultant to corporations, public schools and churches. Various denominations have benefited from his counsel on church planting, church growth and leadership assessment and development.

From 1985-1987, Greg was Senior Pastor at Pawnee Avenue Church of God in Wichita, Kansas. While in this position, he coached a launch team that became a daughter congregation in Andover, Kansas. From 1980-1985, he was Minister of Adult Discipleship and Singles at Salem Church in Dayton, Ohio. Greg also worked as an Indirect Cost Engineer for General Motors in Flint, Michigan from 1976 -1980.

Greg received his formal education at the University of Michigan where he received his BS in Industrial and Operations Engineering in 1976, and worked on an MBA in Corporate Finance. He also received his Master of Divinity at Anderson University School of Theology in 1984. In 1995, Greg was awarded his Doctorate of Education from the University of Central Florida in psychometrics (statistics in testing, measurement and assessment).

Greg has been married to his wonderful wife, Mary Kay for over 33 years and they have three children. The oldest two are married and have given us three grandchildren. Jordan and Jaime Wiens have two children (Jodie and Anderson), Erin and Steve Southards have one daughter (Payton) and Colin is close to marrying Cayla Cruickshank, but we don't know the date.

In summary, Greg likes to create chaos, challenge the status quo, communicate truth, closely relate to a few, critically think, coach leaders, and cast vision for change. These seven C's all find focus and fulfillment in living for God and following His lead.
